The type of border wall or fence you invest in will affect your bottom line. That’s why so many people are choosing precast concrete. The quality and affordability, just can’t be beat. Especially when compared to cast on-site concrete.
At Florida Wall Concepts we are often asked about precast concrete panels and what advantages they offer.
Precast Concrete Saves Money
This is a very popular question. The answer is in the many facets of precast concrete. The most significant factor is the molds and forms used to manufacture precast concrete.
These molds are used hundreds of times before they need to be replaced or recycled. The fact its these forms are made from steel and can typically last for several decades before getting retired.
In comparison, on-site concrete, which are typically just used once, they aren’t recycled or reused. New molds are required for each project. Not only is this wasteful, it’s not environmentally friendly.
The “producer price index”, from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, indicates a significant price difference, with on-site or in-situ concrete being the most expensive. In fact, a recent research project showed a big cost savings with precast concrete. With well over a 20% savings. The research also showed that contractors and business owners who used precast concrete preferred it over other materials because of the favorable life-cycle cost.
This leaves many people wondering the cost of precast panels. The price depends on a few factors, the size of the project, the height, and design
Transport costs for precast concrete panels
Precast concrete panels are finished and ready to install when they transported to the site. They just take a small crew, no large equipment, and a short time to assemble the panels.
While on-site concrete requires all the materials (pre-assembled), large vehicles, a number of workers, a considerable time to construct.
Precast concrete is considerably more efficient and cleaner, then the line of mixer trucks and dozens of workers for on-site concrete.
